2019 is well and truly underway and I want to affirm my dependence upon God as the year starts. I hope you do too! Networx Church has started the year with the theme, Pray First. Understanding the necessity of prayer is not enough. In order for it to become a part of our life, it needs to be something we look forward to doing! Prayer is more than a method. We can learn different modes of prayer, but true prayer is a cry from the heart. It stars with a cry and develops through a ‘communing with the Almighty’.

In the beginning, people knew God as the Creator - Elohim; the creator of heaven and earth. However, Genesis 4:25,26 is the beginning of the first collective relationship with the Almighty. People began to call upon the Name of the Lord! And in the New Testament, Acts 2:21 tells us that “whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord, shall be saved.”

People distinguish themselves in God’s eyes, by simply affirming their DEPENDANCE upon Him. To call upon the Lord, simply means “to implore aid”. From this simple, heart-felt cry began a relationship with God Himself, in which God would reveal Himself as so much more than Creator! He is our Provider, our Healer, our Peace, our Victory Banner, our righteousness and our sanctifier…and so much more!

Make a commitment in 2019 to pray first - before you get up, before you go to bed, before you send a text, before you go to school or work, before bad things happen. As you acknowledge your dependence upon God every day, your relationship with Him develops and an exciting adventure awaits you!
